The kit has a variety of distinguishing design features, including a white section that has been added to the sleeves and shorts, resulting in adidas’ iconic white three stripes appearing in blue for the first time on a Chelsea strip and creating a distinctive and striking design.

The new Chelsea football shirts also feature Adidas’ established ClimaCool technology, which is designed to control heat and moisture on the body. The shirt features mesh sections which helps to improve air flow and keep you cooler and drier.

However reception to this season’s shirt has been muted with many feeling it is a less than inspiring change. The design is a classic blue Adidas shirt with white trim and piping down the sides. Response to the new kit on the Metro site, however was positive, will people welcoming the 80s retro look of the kit.

Adidas have once again provided sizes for everyone from baby and women shirts right up to triple XL shirts.

Internet forum talk has shown that some people are happy the red trim has been removed from the neck which was featured on the 2010 shirt, but what do you think of this seasons shirt?

So, I sent off a brief e-mail asking where all the Chelsea shirts had gone. Within the hour I got this reply:

We’ve worked very well with Chelsea since 1992 however, we can’t provide them with a product at a price they want and we’re not prepared to compromise our quality and authenticity to meet a price.

Therefore we can no longer produce any Chelsea Shirts.

This is a big shame, as Toffs were undoubtedly the biggest manufacturer of Chelsea retro shirts. This leaves a massive gap in the market for Chelsea fans looking for retro shirts, which are really quite popular.

I have updated the Chelsea retro shirts page to best reflect what you can still get your hands on. These are mainly retro shirts that have been made by Toffs but sold at other retailers such as Kitbag and Amazon.

I should think that one of the other manufacturers such as Score Draw, or even Chelsea themselves will step in to make the shirts.
